I’m working my way toward the laundry room/pantry division that needs to happen before the kitchen remodel.
It seems like a big job. It will require new plumbing, new electrical, the addition of a wall, replacement and movement of a window and the removal of a closet. But it will take us one step closer to the end goal.
I’ve started shopping around for new fixtures, etc., and while I’ve discovered some things that I really love, like the DryerBox, which allows you to push your dryer ALL the way to the wall without worrying about kinking the vent line.
There are some other things that need some serious improvement… Like this:
Come on, we’ve never progressed past this horribly unattractive design? There’s got to be a better way.
And laundry sinks… really? Why are they one-size fits all? Why can’t you pick from a catalog of varying designs like you can for every other sink? What if I want a narrow sink to fit a small space (which I do), with the washboard on the side rather than the front? Too bad, say the sink manufacturers of the world, the only choice you have is color.
Minor hang-ups aside, the show must go on.
Here’s what we’re currently working with:
We’ll be splitting the current room as such: (red lines are the new walls)
Here’s the inspiration for the room, colors and materials will obviously differ, but the overall layout will mimic this.
And a few layout mock-ups thanks to Homestyler.
Now where did I put my hammer?
