Preparing to party

This weekend we’re going to be having a gathering at our house (happy birthday Raquel).  What that means is that I have a lot of work to do in just a few days. You see, over the course of the last year, I’ve completed started quite a few projects around the house. But when I get to the finish line, I tend to slow down, and move to the next job instead of finishing strong.

The reason? Finish work tends to suck.

Example 1: Drywall. It’s heavy. It’s cumbersome. It makes a horrible mess. It takes hours. It is NEVER perfect.

So what am I doing this week? A whole lot of drywall.

There are really just two main places that need finished up. One panel outside of the bathroom I’ve been working on, and then a few sheets where I replaced the front door.

So this evening, I came home, changed into some grungy clothes, and got to work filling the screw holes…

Taping the seams and the corners…

Until the first coat was completely finished.

This will be my life for the remainder of the week. My sanity is on the line here. Anyone want to volunteer to finish the job for me? As a reminder, it’s about 1,000 degrees in our house. Awesome.

At least if it’s 1000 degrees the mud will dry quickly so you can get to that second, third, sometimes fourth coat??!!
