It’s official. Summer is gone. Tomorrow I’ll mow the lawn for one of the last times this season – well, other than to suck up the leaves that are on the grass that I’m too lazy to rake.
Unfortunately, that also means that other than yard clean-up, I’m going to have to take my projects inside for the next few months. No more gaping holes in the floor, missing doors, etc. etc.
Which can only mean one thing… lots of online shopping and idea hunting.
I’m trying to be really strategic with our remodeling projects. I don’t want to finish a project if it just means I’m going to have to do something 1-5 years down the road that will require me to redo/alter it.
For example, I really want to put overhead lighting in our living room, because this is currently the vibe after 7 p.m.
But if I put lights in now, chances are they won’t be centered, etc. when we do the floor plan remodel for the kitchen, dining room and den, and then I’ll end up having to redo the project. Not fun, or cost effective.
Something else I’ve been thinking a lot about is replacing the interior doors in the house. I’ve been thinking so much about it, I’ve actually been waiting for Home Depot to run their “free upgrade to a solid core” sale for quite some time.
And well… last night, I realized they came through…
So now I’m thinking about it even more, but I’m just not sure which style to go.
I definitely want to go craftsman, but do I want to go this route:
Or this route, with white trim:
Or this route:
And again, with the 5 panel – do I go white door with wood trim, or wood door with white trim… or oh my goodness, white trim and white door, or wood door with wood trim?!
AHHHH the options are endless.
Just to give some context – here’s the current situation: slab-style hollow core doors that might as well not even exist.
Bella clearly disapproves.
I think I’m liking the three panel option… and I think I like the idea of going white with wood trim…
Hmm… then again… the wood is just so rich looking…
